Two newly-built chemical tankers are scheduled to be delivered within 2026, enabling the continuous optimization of the Group’s shipping route network covering Southeast Asia and the Middle East.

Seacons Marine Group recently released an official announcement, stating that its wholly-owned subsidiary has formally signed a vessel acquisition agreement to purchase two brand-new chemical tankers at a total consideration of US$39.2 million, with each vessel priced at US$19.6 million.

The two chemical tankers under this transaction will complete construction and be officially delivered for commercial operation in 2026. This capacity expansion marks a key strategic move for the Group to deepen its presence in the Asia-Pacific liquid bulk shipping market. Upon delivery, the vessels will further improve the Group’s maritime route network across core regions including Southeast Asia and the Middle East, and boost its deep-sea transportation capacity for liquid cargoes such as chemicals and refined oil products.

Global demand for chemical trade has seen steady growth in recent years, and the prosperity of the Asia-Pacific liquid bulk shipping market keeps rising. By adding specialized chemical transport vessels to its fleet, Seacons Marine can capitalize on the growth momentum of regional chemical trade. Meanwhile, the move optimizes the Group’s fleet structure, makes up for shortages in special shipping tonnage, and strengthens its market competitiveness in this niche shipping segment.

Apart from the acquisition of the two chemical tankers, the Group has long been expanding high-quality tonnage through multiple approaches including replacing aging vessels and placing orders for newbuilds. Focusing on its two core shipping businesses of dry bulk and liquid bulk transportation, the Group relies on major hub ports in Singapore and Southeast Asia to steadily consolidate its market share in regional shipping.

Industry analysts commented that frequent trade activities within global energy and chemical industrial chains have gradually highlighted the scarcity of professional chemical transport vessels. This capacity expansion will help the Group unlock greater growth potential in cross-border liquid cargo transportation, and seize opportunities brought by booming cross-border trade in Southeast Asia with its well-established route network.
